(*) Important information on the new entrance regulations for Machu Picchu

The current restrictions on visits to Machu Picchu establish that the first entry must be accompanied by a tour guide with a maximum stay of 4 hours within the archaeological center (guided tours last approximately 2 hours). If visitors are going to take an alternative route (Machu Picchu or Huayna Picchu mountains), they will have 3 additional hours to make those visits. If any passenger wishes to enter again in the afternoon shift or the next day, they must request in advanced an additional ticket to enter during the new shift. There is no ticket sales office at the door of the archeological zone. Likewise, it is necessary to provide the updated personal detail (full name, date of birth, nationality, and passport number or identity document) of all passengers who come to Peru, the same that must match the identity document that the passengers use for this trip. This information is especially important for visits to places such as the Inca Trail or the Sacred City of Machu Picchu (including Huayna Picchu or Machu Picchu Mountain), where local authorities require the presentation of updated and original documentation at the entrance gates.
