Ilulissat is the Greenlandic word for “icebergs” and once you are there you understand why. Its close proximity to the picturesque Ilulissat Ice fjord, which is listed as a UNESCO World heritage makes it one of Greenland’s most fascinating destinations on the west coast. With a population of about 4,900 people (and around 3500 sled dogs!) the town is the third largest settlement in Greenland.
Enjoy a stroll around the city and experience local life. Visit one of the fascinating museums, shop Greenlandic art in one of the galleries or attend a culture workshop.
